About Adshel
The Adshel Culture
We have worked hard to establish and to maintain an environment where people enjoy coming to work, and accordingly, work hard to positively impact the lives and well being of our staff and the broader community.

This focus on the community, environment and Adshel’s people is the real spirit of Adshel that compliments and underpins the corporate side of our business. A spirit that helps foster positive connections with our contract partners, the community and our own staff so that Adshel is recognised as more than just a street furniture company.

We are also actively looking for ways to improve the working environment for all employees. Some of the initiatives run at Adshel are an annual personal health appraisal subsidised by the company, and the Personal Effectiveness Program – a week long offsite training for a group of staff on personal leadership and management skills. Adshel also donates money to every employee’s charity of choice.

Leading the culture change

Over the last few years, Adshel has been working on its company culture, participating in an Organisational Culture Inventory (OCI) run by Human Synergistics, a world recognised human resource specialist. Following the initial results from 2005, the management team together with staff worked on identifying core culture issues and enacted steps to effectively deal with them. A follow up survey was undertaken in 2006 and 2007, as a “health check” of the change. We are very proud to say that the results illustrated a remarkable and hugely positive shift towards a preferred work culture.

In fact, Human Synergistics remarked “(Adshel) recorded one of the most significant shifts in culture yet documented by Human Synergistics.” Out of the thousands of organisations that Human Synergistics deal with and who undertake an OCI, Adshel was one of only five companies chosen to feature in their book “In Great Company”. Our CEO, Steve McCarthy, often presents to the audiences of hundreds about Adshel’s culture journey. Read more
